Pourakarmikas Need to Work Together to Enhance the City’s Aesthetic Appeal – Maheshwar Rao

Sweet Distribution to Pourakarmikas on the Occasion of Dasara Festival

As part of the Dasara celebrations, GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao distributed sweet boxes to pourakarmikas who play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of the city. The initiative was organized by India Sweet House.

Speaking after the distribution ceremony held at the Dr. Raj Kumar Glass House, at the GBA Head Office, the Chief Commissioner emphasized the contribution of pourakarmikas in keeping the city clean. “If Pourakarmikas don’t perform their duties daily, the public would quickly realize the significance of their responsibilities,” he remarked.

Out of 12,692 pourakarmikas working in the city, all have been made permanent employees. However, a few are yet to receive their official appointment letters due to pending administrative procedures. The process is being expedited to ensure they receive their orders soon, he added.

He also stated that with regularization, the pourakarmikas are now entitled to higher salaries and should therefore provide services that reflect this responsibility. “To enhance the beauty of Bengaluru, everyone must cooperate and work with enthusiasm,” he urged.

Sweet Distribution to All Pourakarmikas:  As a gesture of appreciation for the hard work of Pourakarmikas who help keep the city clean during the festive season, India Sweet House will distribute sweet packs to all pourakarmikas, compactor/auto tipper drivers, and solid waste management staff. This was announced by Shweta Rajshekhar, founder of India Sweet House.

The event was also attended by actor Sihi Kahi Chandru, office bearers of the Pourakarmika Union, and local officials.
