Anti-Encroachment Drive at Jayanagar Commercial Complex; Fine of Rs. 88,200 Recovered: Commissioner K.N. Ramesh

The Corporation commercial complex in Jayanagar, falling under the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru South City Corporation, spans approximately 15,000 square feet and houses over 270 shops. The Corporation had received numerous complaints from the public stating that shop owners and vendors had encroached upon corridors, walkways, and public spaces within the complex, obstructing the smooth movement of pedestrians.

Fine Imposed After Warnings
Based on these public complaints, the Corporation had been continuously creating awareness over the last three days, urging shop owners within the commercial complex to voluntarily clear the unauthorized encroachments beyond their allotted areas.

Despite these efforts to raise awareness, the Corporation has initiated action against those shop owners who continued their encroachments. Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner, Mr. K.N. Ramesh, stated that a total of 39 cases have been registered for encroaching upon corridors and walkways, and a fine of Rs. 88,200 has been imposed on the violators.

Trade Licenses to be Cancelled if Encroachments Persist
A clear warning has been issued to all shop owners in the commercial complex, conveying the message that the encroachment of public spaces will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This special operation will continue until all encroachments are completely cleared.

The Commissioner further stated that if encroachments are found in the future, strict legal action, including the cancellation of trade licenses, will be taken in the interest of the public.
