Cleanliness drive conducted around 22 temples; 344 kg of waste cleared, with the participation of 172 pourakarmikas and 56 sanitation staff

As part of its efforts to maintain cleanliness within the jurisdiction of Bengaluru Central City Corporation, transform the city into a clean, waste-free and beautiful urban space, and secure a better position in the national rankings of Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, the Corporation has undertaken the fourth phase of its special cleanliness drive.

As a large number of people visit temples, special priority has been given to maintaining cleanliness in and around these religious places. In accordance with the action plan already prepared, special cleanliness drives were successfully conducted around temples across the five divisions under Bengaluru Central City Corporation, said Corporation Commissioner Shri Jagadeesh G.

Cleanliness drive around 22 temples; approximately 344 kg of waste cleared

Special cleanliness drives were conducted around a total of 22 temples across the Shantinagar, C.V. Raman Nagar, Shivajinagar, Chamarajpet and Chickpet divisions under Bengaluru Central City Corporation, with the objective of providing devotees with a clean and pleasant environment.

During the drive, the areas surrounding the temples were thoroughly cleaned, and measures were taken to make these spaces more convenient for public use. Approximately 344 kg of waste was cleared.

Division-wise details of the cleanliness drive around temples under Bengaluru Central City Corporation:

1. Shantinagar Division – 6 temples
2. C.V. Raman Nagar Division – 4 temples
3. Shivajinagar Division – 5 temples
4. Chamarajpet Division – 6 temples
5. Chickpet Division – 1 temple

Total: Cleanliness drive conducted around 22 temples

172 pourakarmikas and 56 sanitation staff actively participated in the drive

Approximately 172 pourakarmikas and 56 sanitation staff actively participated in the special cleanliness drive and contributed to its successful implementation.

Special priority has been given to maintaining cleanliness around religious places in the city to provide devotees visiting temples with a clean, hygienic and pleasant environment.

Maintaining cleanliness in the surroundings of religious places is a key priority for Bengaluru Central City Corporation. Such special cleanliness drives will continue regularly with the aim of securing a better position in the national rankings of Swachh Survekshan 2025–26, said Corporation Commissioner Shri Jagadeesh G.

Waste segregation and comprehensive cleanliness drive

During the cleanliness drive, plastic waste, discarded flowers, food waste, paper, water bottles, dry leaves and other solid waste found in the surroundings of the temples were collected. Wet and dry waste were segregated separately, following which the segregated waste was transported to the concerned facilities for scientific disposal.

Through this initiative, necessary measures were taken not only to make the areas surrounding temples clean and attractive but also to ensure that devotees and members of the public can visit these religious places in a safe, healthy and hygienic environment.
