Meeting on the Constitution of a Task Force Regarding the Removal of Re-encroachments on Footpaths in the Malleshwara Division

Dr. Rajendra K.V., Commissioner of the Bengaluru West City Corporation, held a meeting today at the Corporation Office with corporation officials and police officers, including B.S. Nemagouda, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), and Jayaprakash, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), regarding the formation of a task force to clear footpath re-encroachments in the Malleshwaram Division.
The Commissioner stated that re-encroachers on the footpaths of commercial roads in the Malleshwaram Division, namely Sampige Road and Margosa Road, must be cleared. Furthermore, encroachers on the footpaths of the division’s main roads must also be removed. Towards this end, a concerted effort involving police officers, corporation officials, and personnel is essential.
It is also important to safeguard the interests of street vendors, and in this regard, street vendors must be cleared from main roads, connecting roads, and junctions. The Commissioner instructed that a task force comprising corporation officials as well as police officers and personnel be formed to take action.
Fines should be imposed on re-encroachers. If encroachment occurs again, video documentation must be done, and materials should be seized. Action must be taken against those who have encroached upon public spaces, posed a threat to pedestrian safety, and lack trade licenses. Action should be taken if there is obstruction to vehicular traffic and pedestrian movement. If footpaths are damaged, they should be repaired. Within the corporation limits, towing vehicles should make rounds to create awareness among the public against erratic parking, he said.
Zone-1 Chief Engineer Svayamprabha, Zone-2 Chief Engineer Jayashankar, Bengaluru Central City Corporation Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Police Inspectors Bhagyavathi and Poonacha, Executive Engineers, and other officials and personnel were present.
