Complete the Kanteerava Stadium Stormwater Drain Work on Priority: Rajendra Cholan

Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan has instructed officials to expedite and complete the ongoing stormwater drain work at Kanteerava Stadium at the earliest.

During his inspection of various areas within the Corporation limits today, the Commissioner stated that waterlogging occurs in and around Kanteerava Stadium during the rainy season. To prevent this, work is underway to raise the height of the stormwater drain retaining wall. He directed the officials to ensure the project is completed swiftly.

Due to the ongoing drain work, athletes and children using the stadium are facing inconvenience. Hence, the Commissioner emphasized the need to complete the work immediately and to implement measures to prevent flooding in the area.

Pothole and Road Repair Works:The Commissioner instructed that potholes within the Central City limits be filled on a priority basis. Asphalt resurfacing (bitumen work) is being carried out where road surfaces are damaged, and officials have been directed to initiate resurfacing wherever required.

Remove Unauthorized Constructions:He directed officials to identify and list all unauthorized constructions within the Corporation limits. Once identified, these structures should be removed in a phased manner. Officials were also instructed to ensure that no violations occur during the construction approval stage itself.

Prevent Water Flow onto Roads:At Subrahmanya Shastry Road, Kumar Park (West), near Umesh Hotel, the Commissioner noticed that drainage water was flowing onto the road, damaging the surface and causing inconvenience to pedestrians and the general public. He instructed officials to take immediate action to prevent water from entering the road and to restore the damaged stretch.

Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineers, and officers from the SWD were present during the inspection.
