Bengaluru, June 10:
BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to expedite the filling of potholes within BBMP limits.
Addressing a review meeting held today at the BBMP head office, he emphasized the urgent need to prioritize arterial and sub-arterial roads and complete pothole repair work before the onset of the monsoon.
During the rainy season, cold mix should be used to fill potholes temporarily. Roads already identified for asphalting must be completed swiftly to ensure smooth vehicular movement, he instructed.
Resolve Sai Layout Flooding Issues:
In view of the recurring waterlogging in Sai Layout, precautionary measures must be taken. A jack well has already been constructed by the Bengaluru Development Authority to pump out water, and BBMP has been instructed to permanently install pump sets in the area to prevent flooding. Additionally, officials have been directed to expedite the completion of railway vent works.
Close Monitoring of Flood-Prone Areas:
With forecasts predicting heavy rainfall, special attention must be given to flood-prone zones. Any existing issues in such areas must be addressed with permanent solutions to avoid disruptions, he emphasized.
Identify Land for Mini Forests:
Public spaces across the city should be identified for the development of mini forests. Once identified, appropriate steps must be taken to establish these green spaces.
Respond Promptly to Citizen Complaints:
Officials must actively respond to complaints received via BBMP helplines, WhatsApp number, and the Sahaaya 2.0 platform, particularly those related to garbage issues, streetlights, and potholes. Prompt resolution of these concerns is essential, the Chief Commissioner stressed.
Present at the meeting were Special Commissioners Muneesh Moudgil, Dr. K. Harish Kumar, Suralkar Vikas Kishor, Avinash Menon Rajendran, Preeti Gehlot, Naveen Kumar Raju, and Zonal Commissioners Satish, Ramya, Karigowda, Ramesh, Snehal, Digvijay Bodke, along with B-Smile Technical Director B.S Prahalad, Chief Engineers, and other key officials.
