Formation of Coordination Committee for Timely Redressal of Public Grievances: D.S. Ramesh

Bengaluru, Dec. 16:

In accordance with the directions of the Chief Commissioner, Greater Bengaluru Authority, a Coordination Committee comprising officials from all concerned departments has been constituted under the leadership of the Joint Commissioners within the limits of the Bengaluru East City Corporation. East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh convened a meeting with officials to review the functioning of the committee and issued necessary directions. He stated that the committee will play a crucial role in ensuring swift, transparent, and effective resolution of public grievances.

Formation of the Committee:

The Joint Commissioners of the zones will serve as the Chairpersons of the committee, while the Deputy Commissioners of the zones will act as Member Secretaries. The committee will include Zonal Senior Assistant Horticulture Superintendents, Assistant Directors (Animal Husbandry), Deputy Conservators of Forests, Health Officers, Zonal Assistant General Managers (Solid Waste Management), Executive Engineers, Revenue Officers, Assistant Executive Engineers, and Assistant Revenue Officers.

The committee will conduct weekly meetings on fixed dates, division-wise within the Engineering Department, to comprehensively discuss public petitions, complaints, and grievances, and to initiate prompt remedial measures, as directed by the Commissioner.

Priority to Time-Bound Grievance Redressal:The committee has been instructed to thoroughly examine complaints and grievances received from Apartment Welfare Associations, Residents’ Welfare Associations, and the general public, and to ensure resolution in a rule-compliant and time-bound manner through coordinated and effective action.

Junction Improvement and Maintenance:Officials have been directed to identify 10 to 20 major junctions in each zone, division-wise under the Engineering Department, and undertake comprehensive improvement and maintenance works within a 100-metre radius of each junction. These works include removal of footpath encroachments, drain maintenance, replacement of broken slabs, footpath marking, removal of unauthorised advertisements, pruning of hazardous tree branches, and painting of zebra crossings, and kerb stones to ensure overall junction improvement and upkeep.

Strict Action Against Unauthorised Buildings:Officials have been issued strict instructions to identify unauthorised constructions within the East City Corporation limits and to carry out removal actions in accordance with the law and delegated powers.

Removal of Flex Boards and Banners:Directions were issued to take stringent action for the removal of unauthorised flex boards, banners, and advertisements installed in public spaces.

Implementation of Welfare Schemes:With regard to the implementation of welfare schemes for the financial years 2022–23, 2023–24, and 2024–25, the applications received are to be scrutinised as per prescribed guidelines. Eligible beneficiary lists are to be prepared, and the benefits of the welfare schemes are to be ensured to reach the beneficiaries, as instructed by the Additional Commissioner (Development).

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Joint Commissioners Dr. Dakshayini K. and Sudha, Deputy Commissioners Shashikumar and Muralidhar, Chief Engineer Lokesh, Executive and Assistant Executive Engineers, Revenue Officers and Assistant Revenue Officers, Senior Assistant Directors (Horticulture), Assistant Directors (Animal Husbandry), Assistant General Managers (BSWML), and other officials.
