Bengaluru, July 21:
BBMP Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has instructed officials to issue notices and initiate legal action against unauthorized commercial establishments constructed in basement areas within the Mahadevapura Zone.
Addressing a meeting held today on various matters related to the Mahadevapura Zone, he emphasized that basements are designated solely for parking purposes and should not be used for commercial activities. In cases where shops have been illegally constructed, officials must issue notices and take appropriate legal action.
Prepare a Comprehensive Plan for Each Lake:There are 52 lakes in the Mahadevapura Zone. The Chief Commissioner directed officials to prepare individual and comprehensive development plans for each lake. These plans should cover development activities, identification and removal of encroachments, improvements to storm water drains, and restoration of buffer zones.
Form a Committee for Project Monitoring:To ensure effective management of civic works in the Mahadevapura Zone, officials were directed to form a committee under the leadership of the Joint Commissioner. The committee should establish a streamlined communication system, enabling designated officers to provide timely updates and information on ongoing projects.
Resolve TDR-Related Issues Promptly:With regard to pending land acquisition processes for projects such as the underpass at Hoodi Junction and road widening near Panathur S-Cross, officials were instructed to engage with property owners and resolve Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) matters to facilitate timely project completion.
Ensure Cleanliness of Drains:As the monsoon season begins, officials were directed to clean major storm water drains and side drains thoroughly. Steps must be taken to ensure smooth flow of rainwater into the drainage system, preventing waterlogging. Silt and waste materials collected along roadsides and near gratings should be removed using silting equipment and tractors.
Flood Prevention Measures in Vulnerable Areas:In flood-prone areas such as Sai Layout within the Mahadevapura Zone, precautionary measures must be implemented to prevent flooding during the monsoon. Ongoing work on the storm water drain near Columbia Asia Hospital on Sarjapur Main Road should be expedited to avoid disruptions.
Organize e-Khata Melas:To provide convenient services to citizens across all assembly constituencies, large-scale e-Khata Melas will be organized. Accordingly, officials were instructed to conduct these melas in both assembly constituencies within the Mahadevapura Zone.
Streetlight Infrastructure Development:Mahadevapura Zonal Commissioner Ramesh announced that 85,000 streetlights will be installed across the zone. Additionally, 10,000 new locations for electric poles have been identified. Proposals for new streetlight installations will be submitted, and a comprehensive survey will be conducted to identify and repair malfunctioning lights.
The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner Dakshayini, Deputy Commissioner Gayathri Naik, Chief Engineer Ranganath, and other senior officials from various departments.
