

Bengaluru, Feb 22:
Urban cleanliness is being given the highest priority within the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru Central City Corporation. A large-scale mass cleaning drive and black spot clearance operations were carried out today from 6:00 AM across various locations in all six Assembly constituencies under the Corporation limits, said Rajendra Cholan, Commissioner, Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
He stated that, with the objective of ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and a healthy and convenient environment for the public, special cleaning drives are being undertaken continuously in areas with higher waste accumulation, in addition to regular daily sanitation activities.
A total stretch of 8.85 km was covered under today’s mass cleaning operations. With the support of 6 JCBs and 40 tractors, about 60 loads of waste accumulated along roadsides were cleared. Additionally, 21 black spots were eliminated. A total of 192 pourakarmikas and sanitation staff actively participated in the drive.
Details of the Mass Cleaning Operations Conducted Today:
1. Chamarajpet Constituency:
Cleaning activities were carried out at V.S. Garden, Rayapuram, along with footpath encroachment clearance from CCB Circle to Sirsi Circle.
2. Chickpet Constituency:
Cleaning operations were conducted around the basketball court and badminton court areas on T. Mariyappa Road in Ward No. 144.
3. Gandhinagar Constituency:
Cleaning activities were undertaken at Dattatreya Ward, Pipeline Road, Ballapurpete, R.T. Street Market, and 1st Cross, Magadi Road.
4. Shantinagar Constituency:
Cleaning operations were carried out around Sai Baba Road on Cambridge Road and surrounding areas.
5. Shivajinagar Constituency:
Cleaning activities were undertaken at Nandi Durga Road in Vasanthnagar Sub-Division and around Someshwara Temple in Shivajinagar Sub-Division.
6. C.V. Raman Nagar Constituency:
Cleaning work was carried out from 80 Feet Road, New Thippasandra Main Road to Suranjandas Road, and at BDA Complex Double Road.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Shri Daljit Kumar, Additional Commissioner (Development), Bengaluru Central City Corporation.
Executive Engineers, DGMs, AGMs, Assistant Executive Engineers, Forest and Horticulture staff, and officials from various departments also actively participated in the mass cleaning and footpath encroachment clearance drive.
