The corporation has come to the notice of illegal commercial activities being carried out in residential areas within the jurisdiction of the Bangalore South Municipal Corporation.
The Hon’ble High Court in Writ Petition Nos. 3676/2008 and 43472-43474/2011 has issued guidelines restricting commercial activities in residential/semi-residential areas of all sector roads less than 40 feet wide.
In this context, in order to curb commercial activities in residential areas, the permit verification process of official and unofficial commercial enterprises has been started from 17-11-2025.
Senior Health Inspectors and Health Supervisors have been instructed by the Corporation to collect the details of all the businesses coming to the designated wards on a daily basis and fill them in the prescribed form and provide information.
During on-site inspections by senior health inspectors and health supervisors, are licensed businesses operating in accordance with the rules?
Information will be collected from business owners on whether they are paying the correct property tax and the business owners will be asked to provide the necessary documents.
Senior health inspectors and health supervisors have been requested to provide necessary cooperation in the inspection work.
This review process began today and will continue for the next 20 days.
Action will be taken to recover the revised amount from the entrepreneurs who are paying tax amount less than the prescribed amount and in accordance with the order of the Hon’ble High Court. And as per the order of the Hon’ble High Court, action will be taken against the businesses operating illegally and against the zoning classification.
