Survey of street hawkers under BBMP started: Suralkar Vikas Kishore.

A survey of street hawkers has been started in all the zones under BBMP and necessary steps have been taken by the welfare department to complete it at the earliest.

Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Trading) Act-2014 and Karnataka Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood, Control of Street Trading) Act-2014 (Regulation and Licensing of Trade) Scheme-2020 A survey of urban hawkers is being conducted in the Greater Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation.A survey of street vendors has been conducted in all 08 zones of the corporation and more than 600 enumerators have been appointed for the survey work. Mobile The survey is being conducted through the software, so far around 1800 street vendors have been identified through the survey.According to the survey, identity cards and certificates will be distributed to the eligible street vendors. Also form town sales committees at the zonal level, street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Trading) Act-2014 and Karnataka Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood, Control of Street Trading) Act-2014 The scheme for street vendors will be implemented as per (Regulation and Licensing of Business) Scheme-2020

Documents required for survey:

The hawkers should cooperate during the survey by the enumerators appointed by the welfare department and give the following documents to the enumerators during the survey.

Aadhaar Card

* Voter ID card

* Bank pass book

* Family Ration Card

* Information of family members

* Self declaration certificate

Awareness through street plays:

A survey of street hawkers has been started by the welfare department of the corporation, and in order to create awareness among the street hawkers, street plays are being conducted to make them aware of the facilities available to them.

Distribution of Pamphlets:

Pamphlets are also being distributed to street vendors on how to participate in the survey and the benefits they will get from it. Apart from this, survey and promotion work is being done through other activities and this project will facilitate the empowerment of street vendors.

Identification of Business Zones:

In all the eight zones of the corporation, the work of identifying the business zones (Vending Zones) is going on rapidly to facilitate the street vendors.

Various facilities are available from the Corporation:

There are many schemes from the Central Government and the State Government for the empowerment of street hawkers and it is within the purview of the Corporation to deliver it to the street hawkers.

Survey work is being conducted effectively. Apart from PM’s own funds, subsidy for purchase of e-sales vehicles from the corporation’s welfare department, Ochiti Mane/Amrita Subsidy for Mahotsava Mane Yojana, Reimbursement of Medical Expenses for those suffering from serious illnesses, Skill Training Programme, Street Vendors There are other facilities including fee reimbursement for children’s education which can be availed.

FIM Self Funding Scheme:

Primed by Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihood Abhiyan (DAY-NULM), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India Atma Nirbhar Nidhi (PM Swanidhi) Scheme for Street Traders has been implemented. Under it, short loans are being given with the aim of helping the street vendors to build a self-sufficient life.
