Commissioner of Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Rajendra Cholan, has directed officials to take necessary steps for the cleanliness, beautification, and overall development of Halasuru Lake.
During his visit and inspection of Halasuru Lake this morning, the Commissioner emphasized that the surroundings of the lake must be kept clean and that wastewater must not be allowed to enter the lake. He instructed officials to convene a meeting with the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board and other concerned departments to prevent the inflow of sewage into the lake.
He further stated that restoration works at Halasuru Lake must be undertaken. He instructed officials to construct and properly maintain walking paths around the lake to provide a smooth, convenient walkway for citizens.
Along with prioritizing lake conservation, he directed that parks be developed in the vacant areas around the lake, saplings be planted to enhance the lake’s appeal, and proper maintenance be ensured.
He also instructed officials to provide adequate seating arrangements for visitors, maintain trees properly, and promptly remove dry trees, branches, and debris.
The Commissioner directed that the adjoining stormwater drain be regularly desilted and kept clean, ensuring the smooth flow of rainwater.
He further instructed officials to complete the ongoing development works at the earliest to make them available for public use, and to take up the remaining development works in the next phase once the current works are completed.
Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Superintendent Engineer Puneeth, the Shivajinagar Executive Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineers, the Range Forest Officer, engineers from the stormwater drain division, and other officials were present during the inspection.
