Make Comprehensive Preparations for the Pulse Polio Programme: Dr. Rajendra K. V.

The Commissioner of the West City Corporation, Dr. Rajendra K. V., has instructed officials to make all necessary and comprehensive preparations to successfully implement the four-day Pulse Polio Programme in the West City Corporation limits.

Addressing a meeting held today at the Malleshwaram IPP Centre to review the preparatory measures required for the Pulse Polio Programme, the Commissioner emphasized that the programme, to be conducted over four days, should be implemented smoothly and without any lapses. He directed health officials to ensure meticulous planning and execution to achieve complete coverage.

As part of the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme scheduled from December 21 to December 24, the West City Corporation has set a target to administer polio drops to 2,76,693 children below five years of age. The Commissioner instructed officials to ensure that every eligible child is covered without fail.

He further directed officials to take special measures to vaccinate children in high-footfall and vulnerable areas, including crowded locations, railway stations, bus depots, malls, cinema halls, religious places, slum areas, migrant settlements, and similar locations within the West City Corporation limits.

Speaking on the occasion, Health Officer Dr. Manoranjan Hegde informed that the West City Corporation comprises 44 Urban Primary Health Centres and 75 Namma Clinics, and a total of 995 vaccination booths have been set up across the corporation limits. Public awareness about the immunization programme is being created through announcements using loudspeakers mounted on auto tippers, as well as by displaying banners and distributing pamphlets.

In addition to booth-based vaccination, 127 mobile teams and 147 transit teams will be deployed. A total of 5,076 volunteers will participate in administering polio drops, and 251 supervisors will be engaged to monitor the programme.

Within the West City Corporation limits, vaccination activities will be actively carried out across 438 private educational institutions, 480 apartment complexes, 2 railway stations, 8 bus depots, 6 malls, 209 anganwadi centres, and 13 maternity hospitals, by deploying dedicated vaccination staff to ensure comprehensive coverage.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Manjunath Swamy, Joint Commissioner Sangappa, Health Officer Dr. Manoranjan Hegde, officials and staff of the Health Department, and other concerned personnel.
