Commissioner Rajendra Cholan informed that awareness notices have been issued to a total of 574 Paying Guest (PG) accommodations operating within the Bengaluru Central City Corporation limits.
During January 2026, inspections were carried out in all currently operating PG accommodations across the Shantinagar, C.V. Raman Nagar, Gandhinagar, Shivajinagar, Chamarajapete, and Chickpet Assembly constituencies to verify compliance with prescribed guidelines. Following these inspections, awareness notices were issued to 574 PG establishments.
Among them, 08 PG accommodations that failed to maintain proper kitchen hygiene were sealed. Additionally, penalties amounting to ₹3,09,000 (Rupees Three Lakh Nine Thousand only) were imposed during the month of January for other violations and deficiencies.
PG accommodation owners have already been instructed to strictly comply with essential guidelines, including provision of safe drinking water, kitchen cleanliness, safety measures, proper toilet facilities, fire safety equipment, installation of CCTV cameras, and possession of an FSSAI food safety certificate.
The Central City Corporation has warned that continuous inspections will be conducted to ensure adherence to these guidelines, and strict action will be taken against violations.

195 pourakarmikas and sanitation staff participated
53 loads of waste and 24 black spots cleared
Giving priority to urban sanitation within the Central City Corporation limits, large-scale mass cleanliness drives have been carried out at various locations across six Assembly constituencies, informed Commissioner Rajendra Cholan.
He stated that, with the objective of ensuring city cleanliness, providing smooth pedestrian pathways, and creating a healthy environment for citizens, daily cleaning operations along with continuous black spot removal activities are being undertaken across the city corporation limits.
Details of today’s mass cleanliness drive locations:
1. Chamarajapete Constituency:
A large-scale cleaning drive was conducted around Rayapuram 9th Main Road, Conservancy Lane, and the surrounding areas near Sangam Circle.
2. Chickpet Constituency:
Cleaning work was undertaken at Ward 145, Red Field Playground, and adjoining slum areas.
3. Gandhinagar Constituency:
A mass cleanliness drive was carried out from Okalipuram 5th Main Road, RRR Kalyana Mantapa Main Road, and from Binny Mill Circle up to Arogya Soudha.
4. Shantinagar Constituency:
Cleaning activities were conducted near Jogupalya Subramanya Temple in Ward 89.
5. Shivajinagar Constituency:
A large-scale cleaning drive was carried out from Chalukya Circle Road to Cantonment Road (Miller’s Road).
6. C.V. Raman Nagar Constituency:
Cleaning work was undertaken around the main roads of Ward 114, Jeevan Bheemanagar, and nearby areas.
Under the supervision of the Additional Commissioner (Development), Daljit Kumar, such operations are being continuously conducted to maintain city cleanliness, smooth traffic movement, and public health.
Today, cleaning work covered a total stretch of 8.45 km. With the assistance of 7 JCBs and 46 tractors, 53 loads of roadside waste and 24 black spots were cleared. A total of 195 pourakarmikas and sanitation staff participated in the operation.
Executive Engineers, DGMs, AGMs, Assistant Executive Engineers, and staff from the Forest, Horticulture departments, Pourakarmikas and Sanitation workers, along with other concerned officials, took part in the mass cleanliness drive.
