9,000 kg of single-use plastic has been seized under the jurisdiction of the Greater Bengaluru Authority and a fine of Rs. 7.38 lakh has been collected, said Karigowda, Chief Executive Officer of BSWML.
Despite a complete ban on single-use plastic across the city, it has been found that single-use plastic covers are being illegally stockpiled and sold.
Officials of the Bangalore Solid Waste Management Limited conducted a swift operation against manufacturers and stockpilers, seizing plastic worth lakhs of rupees and seizing a godown in K.R. Market.
