Bengaluru, May 22, (Karnataka News) : This is the first time that the Horticulture Department, in collaboration with the Organic Agriculture Society, has organized a three-day organic mango and jackfruit fair from May 23 to 25 at the Dr. M.H. Marigowda Hall in Lalbagh, said Ramesh, Director of the Horticulture Department. Addressing the media at the Director's Office, Lalbagh today, he said that on May 23 at 3.00 pm, Secretary, Horticulture and Fisheries Department, Dr. Shamla Ikshal will inaugurate the fair. Bengaluru, May 22: Preeti Gehlot, Special Commissioner of the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Management, has announced that 63 out of the 183 lakes within the limits of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have reached full capacity due to the significant rainfall over the past week. The total storage capacity of the lakes within BBMP limits is 32,514 million litres. In April 2025, the overall water storage had declined to 10,595 million litres, with only 3 lakes filled to capacity. Around 63 lakes were nearing complete dryness at the time. Following a week of steady rainfall in the city, the lakes have collectively stored approximately 26,056 million litres of water — a substantial increase compared to April 2025 levels. Bengaluru, May 22: Preeti Gehlot Special Commissioner for Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Management, has appealed to the public to report any instances where entry to parks within the BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) limits is denied during designated hours. To ensure greater convenience for the public, the BBMP has revised the operating hours of its 1,287 parks. As per the circular issued by the Chief Commissioner on June 12, 2024, all parks are to remain open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM. The circular clearly states that no park under BBMP limits could deny entry to the public during these hours.
