File Complaints Against Those Who Paste Posters on Trees and Walls
Bengaluru, October 31:
Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed officials to expedite the completion of pending works on Panathur S. Cross and Balagere Road. He issued these instructions during an inspection visit to various locations under the limits of the Bengaluru East City Corporation today.
Of the one-kilometre stretch from the Outer Ring Road service road, asphalting has already been completed. Concrete work over 500 meters within Panathur village is currently in progress—one layer has been laid, and the Chief Commissioner instructed that the second layer be completed quickly to enable smooth vehicular movement.
Four houses located near the Panathur railway track are yet to be vacated for road widening. He directed officials to expedite compensation to the property owners, clear the structures, and proceed with road construction.
Encroachments on both sides of the Panathur Road pedestrian pathways should be identified and removed. He also instructed that any damaged slabs or obstructions on footpaths be repaired immediately.
Display a Railway Department Name Board:Observing that the road adjacent to the Panathur railway track is in poor condition, the Chief Commissioner instructed that a nameboard be installed indicating that this section falls under the Railway Department’s limits. Officials informed that a formal letter has already been sent to the Railway Department, urging them to undertake necessary repair works.
Expedite Stormwater Drain Work:Approximately 700 meters of Balagere Road have been completed under the white-topping project, while wet-mix work has been carried out on the remaining stretch. The Chief Commissioner instructed officials to take up asphalting immediately.
Since Balagere Road often experiences flooding during monsoons, the ongoing stormwater drain construction alongside the road must be completed at the earliest. At the Balagere Road T-junction (near the STP), where the road narrows, he instructed officials to widen the carriageway by laying additional slabs over the stormwater drain to facilitate smoother traffic movement.
Develop Devarabeesanahalli Junction:Metro work is currently underway at Devarabeesanahalli Junction, and developmental works below the flyover are in progress. The Chief Commissioner directed that these be expedited and completed at the earliest, while also ensuring cleanliness around the junction area.
Action Against Illegal Posters:The Chief Commissioner observed posters pasted on trees near Devarabeesanahalli and expressed concern that such acts spoil the city’s aesthetics. He instructed officials to file complaints and impose fines against those responsible for pasting posters on trees and walls. Existing posters must be removed, and legal action should be initiated against the offenders.
