Bengaluru, Nov. 19:
In line with the directions issued by the Chief Minister during the first meeting of the Greater Bengaluru Authority, Bengaluru South City Corporation Commissioner K. N. Ramesh convened the first coordination meeting with various government departments regarding road cutting and development works within the City Corporation limits.
Senior officials from key civic service departments—including the Police Department, Traffic Police, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM), Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), and the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)—participated in the coordination meeting.
Complete Pending Works Immediately on Bannerghatta Road and Proceed with Asphalting:
Works related to the Metro project are ongoing on Bannerghatta Road. The BMRCL is prepared to take up asphalting from Dairy Circle to Kalena Agrahara. The Commissioner instructed BWSSB to urgently complete the pipeline-laying work in this stretch. He also directed BMRCL to ensure installation of road markings, signage, and reflectors while undertaking asphalting.
Share Roadwork Lists Across Departments and Coordinate Execution:
The list of city corporation-approved road asphalting works has been circulated to all departments. Departments were instructed to immediately complete any pending works on these roads. Departments were also asked to provide city corporation with the list of works that have been approved but not yet started.
No Permission to Cut Newly Asphalted Roads in Public Interest:
The Commissioner made it clear that once the city corporation initiates asphalting work on a road, no permissions will be granted to other departments for road cutting, keeping public interest in mind.
CCTV Installed by the City Corporation to Be Handed Over to Police Soon:
The Commissioner instructed city corporation Executive Engineers to compile a list of all CCTVs installed by the City Corporation and submit a report on their operational status to the Chief Engineer. He stated that these CCTVs will soon be handed over to the Police Department.
The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Naveen Kumar Raju, Chief Engineer Basavaraj Kabade, and other officials.
