In an effort to maintain cleanliness at K.R. Market, Zonal Commissioner Suralakar Vikas Kishor has directed officials to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations.
During his visit and inspection of K.R. Market in the West Zone today, the Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining consistent cleanliness. However, due to the indiscriminate disposal of waste by some vendors, the upkeep of hygiene standards has been severely hampered. He instructed the officials to identify such locations and install CCTV cameras to monitor and curb such practices.
Approximately 70 tons of waste are generated daily at the market, and waste is cleared in three shifts. Post installation of the CCTV system, the Commissioner instructed for continuous monitoring and strict action against those violating waste disposal norms.
Marking for Vendors: He further directed that all vendors be assigned designated spots, clearly marked, and that they should conduct their business only within these marked areas. Vendors should not be allowed to occupy unassigned spaces. Additionally, he stressed the need to curb unauthorized vending outside the market premises.
Deployment of Additional Marshals: At present, one supervisory marshal and seven field marshals are assigned for maintaining cleanliness at K.R. Market. The Commissioner instructed that more marshals be deployed if necessary. He also recommended providing pushcarts for pourakarmikas to facilitate their cleaning tasks.
Installation of Waste Bins:To prevent vendors from discarding waste indiscriminately, the Commissioner ordered the installation of waste bins at four key locations within the market. He also instructed that each vendor be provided with individual bins and be mandated to dispose of waste only in designated areas specified by the BBMP.
Cleaning with Pressure Washers: Areas within the market identified as highly unhygienic are to be cleaned using pressure washers. A 5 HP capacity pressure washer has already been procured, and officials were instructed to use it daily to clean and maintain hygiene in those areas.
New Parking Tender: The Commissioner proposed issuing a new parking tender for the ground floor and other parking zones within K.R. Market. Clear demarcation of entry and exit points should be carried out. He also directed the immediate completion of the tender process and finalization of new parking tariffs.
The visit was attended by Joint Commissioner Sangappa, Executive Engineers, BWSSB officials, marshals, and other concerned authorities.
