National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru Celebration of International Museum Day 2025

Bangalore, May 16, (Karnataka Information) :
  The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Bengaluru is happy to announce the celebration of International Museum Day (IMD) 2025 from May 14th to May 31st, 2025, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. This vibrant two-week-long celebration will feature an exciting array of events designed to engage the community, promote cultural awareness, and celebrate the vital role museums play in society.
Highlights of the IMD 2025 Celebration include:
Free Entry: In celebration of IMD, entry to NGMA Bengaluru will be free for all visitors on May 18, 2025.
Illumination of the heritage building and the NGMA Premises: From May 15 to May 31, 2025, creating a festive ambiance. Special laser illumination on the 18th May 2025
Special Workshops & Events:
WARP & WEFT Workshop: A four-day hands-on workshop exploring traditional textile making practices, from May 14 to May 17, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 05:30 PM.
Storytelling Session: A special storytelling session by Ms. Aparna Athreya for children and adults on May 23, 2025 at 11:30 AM.
“The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities.” Engaging discussions with eminent scholars from fields of Art History and Museology on May 25, 2025, at 05:00 PM.
Inclusive Chittara Workshop: On May 30, 2025 at 11:30 AM, specially abled participants will explore traditional Chittara art in collaboration with skilled artists.
May 18 – International Museum Day Specials:
Community Engagement Workshop: “Playful Path to Museum Setup” community experience at 03:00 PM.
Online talk: “Museologist/Curator Insights on Museum Setup” and “Bharath Museums and Their Journey Towards International Standards” by Dr. Ambika Patel, President of ICOM-India at 05:00 PM. The Online talk will be live-streamed across all our official social media platforms.( Insta – ngma_bengaluru  Facebook – National Gallery Of Modern Art, Bengaluru  Youtube – NGMA Bengaluru).
Night at Museum: Extended gallery hours: NGMA Bengaluru will remain Museum open 09:00 PM. Cultural Program from Dept. Kannada & Culture will be organized from 07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
Shuttle Service: In collaboration with BMTC, a free shuttle service will be available between Cubbon Park Metro Station and NGMA Bengaluru, Vasantha Nagar. 10:00 AM to 09:00 PM.
Storytelling session: A special storytelling session by Ms. Mamta Sagar and team for children and adults on May 20, 21 & 22, 2025 at 04:00 PM.
Scholarly Talk: A special Talk & Presentation by Dr. Alka Pande on “Devis”, with a special emphasis on Karnataka, will be held on May 30, 2025, at 05:00 PM to enrich the evening’s programming.
Special Workshop: “Sanhitha Exhibition” – a Braille and Tactile Art Workshop showcasing 15 selected works from the Air India Collection, curated with a focus on visitors with disabilities, will be held on May 31, 2025, at 11:30 AM. This program is open to all.
  Puppet Show.  A special puppet show by Dhaatu on May 31, 2025, at 05:00 pm
